Nakumatt closes Eldoret town branch

More than 200 employees of Nakumatt Holdings supermarket in Eldoret town Uasin Gishu County are uncertain of retaining their jobs after the management closed down its premise on Saturday morning.

The move caught most of the employees and suppliers unawares after they reported to work only to be turned back by the security guards manning the premise.

On the door was a notice placed by Eldo Centre the building landlord detailing that the tenant has arrears.

The owners of the building have maintained that the tenant will only be permitted to re-occupy the premise for purposes of removing its goods.

The regional retailer has since closed its branch at Westgate Mall in Westlands, Nairobi, Thika Road Mall (TRM) branch and the NextGen Mall outlet on Mombasa Road.
