Nakuru allocates Ksh 13.1M to end Salgaa road carnage

Leaders from Nakuru County led by nominated Senator Liza Chelule and Deputy Governor Joseph Rutto on Tuesday resolved to bury the hatchet and work closely with Salgaa residents to address the high number of road accidents reported in the area.

Speaking during a meeting convened by the County Government of Nakuru, the leaders dismissed reports that they had discriminated against Salgaa residents.

”We are here to listen and understand your issues so that we can address them in a holistic manner. We work for you and trust that we will solve all the issues of your concern,” said the Deputy Governor.

The Deputy Governor assured the residents that projects that had been planned for including the construction of a lorry parking bay, repair of drainage systems and erection of street lighting had already been tendered to a tune of Ksh 13.1 million and they would start in a week’s time.

The Deputy Governor added that the lorry parking project would be constructed at Ksh 6 million with the construction of the drainage system costing the same amount.

The street lighting project would, however, cost the County Government Ksh 1.1 million.

Area business community leader Livingstone Sawe said 20 acres of land had been set aside for the construction of the lorry parking bay.
