Nakuru County Launches Free Public WiFi

The free WiFi project steered by the state house digital team was launched on Sunday.

It will see residents of Nakuru County enjoy free WiFi services within a ten kilometers radius.

Nakuru becomes the first county to benefit from the Ksh. 200 million shillings project.

Nakuru governor Kinuthia Mbugua who officiated the launch, said that the project will be a boost to tourism, local investment and research especially in higher learning institutions.

Nakuru is the first of 5 major towns and cities that will offer free internet services in the future in line with the pledges made by the jubilee government.

Other cities in Africa that provide free public Wi Fi include Kigali in Rwanda and Cape Town in South Africa.
