Nakuru Leaders Defend Kenyatta in Title Deed Row

Speaking in Nakuru town on Sunday, the leaders, led by Nakuru County United Republican Party Secretary Richard Lang’at, accused Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto of dragging the President’s name in the allegations, saying he should leave the presidency out of petty issues.

Lang’at said Bomet Town is the county headquarters and that there was no reason for the proposed University to be moved to another place.

PERSONAL ISSUES

National Assembly Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso has also accused governor Ruto of dragging the presidency into his personal issues, saying the title deed was valid.

Last week, Isaac Ruto accused President Kenyatta of issuing an illegal title deed for the construction of the proposed Bomet University College during his trip to the county.

The allegations were, however, refuted by the acting Lands cabinet secretary, Fred Matiang’I, who said the title deed is legal and the law was followed in its allocation.

The National Land Commission (NLS) has distanced itself from the debate, with the commission’s chair Mohammad Swazuri saying they were not consulted in its issuance.
