The cause of death was not immediately clear although the hospital had administered a COVID-19 test whose results are yet to be released.

Nakuru Governor Lee Kinyajui eulogised the MCA as an honest leader who worked tirelessly to resolve the problems of the people in his ward.

“The sheng-speaking member was an easy going, likeable leader who had no time for petty disagreements. He was a peacemaker per excellence. At this difficult moment of sorrow, our hearts and prayers go to his family, friends and constituents,” the Governor’s condolence read in part.

The late Mbugua was last seen in public on Tuesday tweek after the assembly resumed physical sittings following a 2-week closure.

He was also present during the burial of his Hells Gate Counterpart John Njuguna in Naivasha on Saturday last week.

Mbugua is the second Member of the County Assembly to pass on in a span of 2 weeks after his counterpart John Njuguna Succumbed on November 9.

Earlier in the year, Lake View Ward MCA  Karanja Mburu died in a road accident.
