Nakuru Majority leader Stanley Karanja resigns

Nakuru Majority leader Stanley Karanja has resigned citing health issues and pressure from some quarters.

The leadership row that affected the Nakuru County Assembly in the past few months saw Karanja at one time accused of spearheading the removal of 12 nominated members from various committees.

The affected MCAs would later report the Majority Leader at the Jubilee party headquarters.

Speaker Joel Maina Kairu and the Majority leader then received a letter warning them against such a move.

The altercation went out of hand forcing Jubilee party Secretary General to summon Karanja and Majority Whip Irene Chebichi 10 days later.

Nakuru Majority leader Stanley Karanja however ignored the summons instead defending himself in a rejoinder.

According to him, Tuju had no reason to summon him yet the move to remove the MCAs was ‘adopted by the selction committee which is spearheaded by the Speaker.’

He accused the county assembly members of orchestrating plans to have him removed from his position as Majority Leader of the Nakuru County Assembly.
