Nakuru man on the run after wife, 26, found strangled to death

Police are searching for a middle aged man who allegedly strangled his 26-year-old wife to death in Kiamunyi area, Nakuru.

According to Nakuru County Police Commander Stephen Matu, the deceased was found laying lifeless on her bed with doors locked.

A note found beside the bed said the Nakuru man had left for the Menengai Crater with their child and allegedly intended to take his own life.

According to the Nakuru police boss, the child was later rescued though details of location are yet to be established.

Following an increase in cases of gender based violence that have led to multiple killings, residents are urging the government to scale up the fight against the vice.

Sammy Ngigi, the deceased’s father has also called on all relevant authorities to speed up the investigations and ensure they get justice.

The body has since been moved to Nakuru County Municipal Mortuary awaiting postmortem.

The latest case comes on the backdrop of the horrific murder of a woman and two children in Nanyuki.

Their bodies were discovered stacked on top of each other in a shallow grave near the Laikipa Air base.

The main suspect, Peter Mugure, who is an estranged partner of the deceased woman and the father to the two children, is in police custody.
