Nakuru MPs to impeach Nkaissery if CORD protests Monday

Members of Parliament from Nakuru County have threatened to impeach the Cabinet Secretary for Internal Security Major Gen. (Rtd.) Joseph Nkaissery if he fails to effect the court order against CORD’s anti-IEBC demonstrations.

The county leaders led by Governor Kinuthia Mbugua on Saturday vowed to move a motion of no-confidence on the CS if he does not deal with the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) for defying court order barring them from holding their planned protests on Monday

Addressing a press conference in Nakuru, the Nakuru East Member of Parliament David Gikaria said CS Nkaissery should respect the court order that made illegal CORD protests in the same way he respected the order
that allowed them to hold their rally at Uhuru Park during Madaraka Day.

“We are warning Nkaissery that if he allows the opposition to demonstrate on Monday, I will sponsor a motion in Parliament to remove him from the office for his incapacity to execute his mandates,” said Gikaria.

The lawmaker said the opposition’s main agenda is to impeach the President in the event he gives in to their demands of going against the Constitution in dealing with the IEBC issue.

“We are urging the President to remain firm in his stand on IEBC because any action he takes besides what is provided in  the Constitution will be used by the opposition to impeach him for breaking the law,” said the MP

The MP was in company of his counterparts from other constituencies among them Samuel Arama (Nakuru West), Jacob Macharia (Molo) and Moses Cheboi (Kuresoi North).
