A Nakuru court on Wednesday found a 45-year-old self-proclaimed pastor guilty on charges of sodomy, defilement and child prostitution.

Appearing before Resident Magistrate Eunice Kelly, the accused — Thomas Musabire — faced 20 counts of child prostitution, defilement, sodomy and promoting child pornography.

The accused was charged that on diverse dates in March 2017 at his house in Railways Estate, Nakuru County, he willfully showed pornographic material to minors and later asked them to practice what they had watched on a mentally challenged woman.

The court heard that the accused, who is a boda boda rider and a part time pastor at a local church, took advantage of the minors after he was hired by their parents to drop them to and from school to avoid rapists in the unsafe route.

Magistrate Kelly, in her ruling, said she had carefully considered the evidence adduced in court by all the witnesses in the matter and was convinced the accused was guilty.

She noted that the evidence by the minors in the matter was corroborated, further adding that all testimonies revealed that the offences were committed at the accused person’s house.

According to the Magistrate, it was unfortunate that the accused took advantage of the minors to satisfy his “dark sexual desires” in total disregard of the state of the kids.

She further described the accused as a “pervert” who is ready to go beyond the norm and exploit kids whom he has gained their trust.

Mr. Musabire, who has been in custody since last year, will be sentenced on December 18, 2018 as the court directed that a pre-sentence report be produced before a full sentence is made.
