Nakuru second most affected county by land conflicts NLC

The National Land Commission (NLC) now says that Nakuru County has the second highest number of land cases.

NLC chairman Mohammed Swazuri says that Nakuru County suffers serious land related conflicts, closely following the coastal region.

Swazuri, who was speaking in Nakuru’s Solai area during the issuance of 200 title deeds to members of the controversial Nyandarua Progressive Agencies Farm, said that there is an urgent need to resolve the land conflicts before they escalate further.

According to Swazuri, the 7,000-acre Progressive Agencies Farm has suffered prolonged leadership wrangles for over 40 years leading to over 3,000 members being denied title deeds.

Beneficiaries expressed confidence that the prolonged wrangles will soon be a thing of the past.

The title deeds issuance comes barely a month after the government threatened to revoke all illegal title deeds allocated to individuals or companies across the country.

The government has so far revoked title deeds of more than 350,000 acres of irregularly acquired land in Lamu County and returned it to the county government for public use.

Last year, NLC revoked title deeds of nine Islands in Kwale after allegations that the Funzi and Gazi Islands in Msambweni were falsely allocated to individuals.
