Namwamba’s party to hold national delegates meet

The Labor Party of Kenya (LPK) leaders say they will hold a National Delegates Conference (NDC) before the end of the year to decide whether they will join other coalitions or go it alone and sponsor a presidential candidate.

Speaking at Moi International Airport in Mombasa before heading to Kilifi County on Saturday, October 22, party leader, Ababu Namwamba, said they are yet to decide if they will front their own candidate or back another hopeful.

This comes after Amani National Congress party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, announced on Friday, October 21 that his party will start talks with the opposition Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD) in a bid to form a Supper Alliance ahead of 2017 General Election.

On the other hand, Namwamba supported current coalition negotiations talks saying all political parties are at liberty to engage in a conversation that will unite the country.

He said Western Kenya is at a historical crossroad and soon something major will happen. He did not elaborate.

Namwamba also said that his party is not worried with ongoing political engagements, adding that LPK believes in constitutional enactment of the liberty of the right to belong to political formation of one’s choice.
