Nandi independent candidates deny being Opposition moles

The Independent Candidates Alliance in Nandi County has criticized Jubilee Party nominees in the County for referring to them as Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) moles.

Addressing mourners in Nandi Hills during the burial of Pauline Tabarno, mother to Nandi County Executive Committee Member (CEC) in charge of Lands and Natural Resources, the independents urged the Jubilee candidates to focus on their own campaigns and stop polarizing the county.

Led by Anderson Serem, the candidates accused their Jubilee counterparts of spreading rumours that independent candidates were drumming support for the opposition in a perceived Jubilee stronghold.

They distanced themselves from NASA saying Nandi is a Jubilee stronghold and that their support for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election is ‘unequivocal’.

“In our campaigns, we have found it difficult to endear ourselves to the electorate because they have been misled to think we are NASA moles,” said Mr. Serem.

“This is carefully choreographed propaganda by the Jubilee candidates to advance their own interests.”

He appealed to the voters to elect visionary leaders and urged them to rise beyond party politics and elect people with a transformative agenda.

The independents also rubbished claims earlier by the Jubilee candidates that all Jubilee candidates in the county will win on August 8.
