Nandi police probing brutal murder of woman

Police in Nandi County are investigating the murder of a 52-year-old widow who was brutally murdered on Monday, September 26 in Kapchemoiywo area and her body dumped outside her gate.

The woman suffered deep multiple wounds on the head, a sign that she had been attacked using a sharp object.

Police say that the murder of the woman has led to retaliatory attacks in the area with angry residents setting ablaze three houses of persons suspected to have a hand in the killing.

One of the alleged suspects, identified as Jacob Kiplagat, according to the residents, was involved in a land dispute with the widow, although they later settled it.

Milcah Chemeli, the daughter to the deceased, said that her late mother had earlier received death threats from the suspect.

According to Nandi Central OCPD, Joakim Mecha, who addressed the press on Tuesday, September 27, police have commenced investigations as residents call for enhancement of security in the area to avert such incidences.

The body of the deceased was removed to Kapsabet County Referral Hospital mortuary.
