Nandi residents protest frequent blackouts
Hundreds of residents of Kapsabet town took to the streets on Tuesday to protest frequent power outages in the area.
The residents accuse Kenya Power of failing to listen to their plea to restore power.
The residents who rode on boda bodas and tuk tuks camped outside the Kenya Power offices carrying placards with messages condemning the regular blackouts.
Led by Meshack Kimutai, the residents argued that the power company has failed to restore power despite promising to find a lasting solution.
The further claim that their businesses have been affected by the blackouts with commodities going bad leading to huge losses.
“The Kenya Power officials should solve the issue immediately because our businesses are the most affected,” said Franklin Korir, a businessman in the county.
They have threatened to continue with the protests until a solution is reached.
