Nandi roads boss arrested with Ksh 5.7M stolen cash

There was a drama at the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) office in Eldoret after Eng Alex Buingut, the Chief Officer in charge of Roads in Nandi County threw a bottle at journalists in a bid to stop them from recording proceedings at the anti-graft office.

This was after EACC detectives raided his home in Eldoret town, recovering Ksh 5.74 million in cash, printers and letter heads belonging to the County Government.

The raid followed complaints of misappropriation of road funds in the County.

According to the anti-graft officers, the engineer has been on run for almost two years and their efforts to reach him had bore no fruit.

In a similar case late October last year, EACC officers raided Tharaka Nithi Deputy Governor, Eliud Muriithi’s, residence at Kinoru Estate in Meru and a clinic linked to him seizing a stash of money from his wife’s office.

EACC investigators conducted a thorough search and recovered a total of Ksh 900,000 in cash safely sealed in an envelope in his wife’s office.

The investigators, searched hoping to get money that could implicate him in corrupt dealings.
