Nanok: Enhance Security In Oil Rich Areas

The governor said there was need for security to be blostered especially now that oil has been found in the area.

Nanok said the attacks could increase if nothing was done to beef security.

He was speaking when he together with British High Commissioner Christian Turner and officials of Tullow Kenya which has been drilling oil in the area visited the area.

So far, Tullow Kenya has drilled nine rigs out of which 8 were successful.

Tullow Kenya says there could be more oil in Turkana County.

Tullow Kenya Country Manager Martin Mbogo said studies had shown that Ngamia 3 could have more oil than the previous find.

Ngamia 3 which is otherwise known as Marriot 46 is a new oil rig discovered near the insecure border of Turkana and Pokot and it’s estimated to have more oil in Turkana than other oil rigs earlier explored.

The British envoy said that since Tullow is a British company, Britain is committed to partner and collaborate with Kenya and Turkana County to ensure that every stakeholder benefits from the oil.
