Narok County Govt accused of shutting down petrol station in row with two companies

The County Government of Narok has been accused of closing down the Hass Petrol Station over a feud with two giant transport companies.

The two firms are Narok Line Services and Narok Star Shuttle Sacco.

According to residents, Narok Line Services has been trying to secure their own terminus to evade control from Narok Star Shuttle Sacco said to have less than 20 public cars.

On Saturday, employees from Narok Line Services took to the streets which affected motorists on the Narok-Bomet highway.

They blamed the county government for putting stone boulders at Hass petrol station which is the main centre for picking and dropping passengers for  Narok Line Services public vehicles.

The said vehicles operate from Narok to Kericho, Bomet, Eldoret and Ewaso Nyiro.

The county government is alleged to have hindered business activities around there since the area has grown to be a big business centre.

Narok MCA Parsaloi Ole Torome has however denied allegations instead accusing cartels of trying to tarnish the name of the government.

Police were forced to use tear gas on Saturday to clear the Narok-Bomet highway for normal operations.
