Narok County hosts special Paralympics event

Narok County hosted a special Paralympics event fight stigma and create awareness of the plight of persons living with disabilities in the county.

The event, which was held at Maasai Mara University grounds, brought together hundreds of persons living with disability. According to their Narok County representative Violet Sikawa, the event saw participants who have been shunned from appearing in public display amazing ability and ingenuity.

Sikawa added that they will hold the fete annually to improve the County’s potential to produce and tap talents that have previously been unexplored.

The National Chairman for persons living with disability Dr. David Ole Sankok urged politicians to get involved in such events to boost the morale of competitors and provide funds to enable them get better facilities.

The inaugural contest, which showcased various field and track events, will see the  five winners move on to participate at the All African Games in Congo Brazzaville after participation in the Isiolo desert wheel chair competition to be held on the 22nd August.
