Narok man in hospital after wife bit off his lower lip over plans to visit parents

By Mary Silantoi

A 34-year-old man is recovering at the Narok County Referral Hospital after his wife allegedly bit and cut off his lower lip following a domestic disagreement.

According to Benson Onsongo, the quarrel began when his 27-year-old wife informed him that she wanted to go visit her parents in Kisii County.

He however reportedly asked her to postpone the trip as he looked for money for her to use to pay the transport fare but she threatened to commit suicide.

Mr. Onsongo added that, on Monday evening while he was at work, he was informed that the woman was about to end her life by jumping into a nearby river and drowning.

He stated that he rushed to the scene and talked her out of it but, on their way back home, she turned and bit off his lower lip before also biting his hand and stomach.

He was rushed to Talek Health Center for first aid before being transferred to the Narok County Referral Hospital on Tuesday for further treatment.

Speaking to Citizen Digital, Priscilla Mwarigi – a nurse at the facility – said Mr. Onsongo had been treated and is presently recovering well but that his lower lip was completely bit off.
