NASA endorsement gave me the victory Jubilee governor-elect

Uasin Gishu Governor, Jackson Mandago, has extended his sincere gratitude to opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) leaders for what he terms as ‘boosting his re-election bid’ in the just concluded general polls, insisting that chances are that he could have lost to his opponent if not endorsed by the Raila Odinga-led faction.

In a great twist of events in July 26 at 64 Stadium, NASA endorsed the re-election of Jubilee Party’s gubernatorial candidate, Jackson Mandago, with running-mate, Kalonzo Musyoka, vowing that he would vote for the Governor if he was a bonafide Uasin Gishu voter.

Speaking on Monday, August 14 in Eldoret, Mandago said that the endorsement played a very key role in wooing the significant non-Kalenjin vote in the county on his side, prompting him to defeat his opponent Zedekiah Bundotich alias Buzeki.

“I am very grateful to NASA leaders for their support. If they couldn’t have said ‘Mandago Tosha’, maybe I couldn’t have won elections,” said Mr. Mandago.

However, the governor lauded the constituents of Uasin Gishu for co-existing peacefully before, during and after the August 8 polls regardless of tribe and different political affiliations.

According to Mandago, the people defied all odds considering Uasin Gishu was among the listed regions that were rated hot spots and likely to experience poll violence.

He also thanked the media for what he thought was objective and first-rate election reporting that came in handy in ensuring that peace prevails in the North Rift region.
