NASA leaders tear-gassed as they make their way to CBD VIDEO

NASA leaders, led by Siaya Senator James Orengo were tear-gassed in Nairobi as they attempted to make their way into the Central Business District on Friday for their anti-IEBC demonstrations.

Orengo had earlier addressed a press conference at ODM main offices in Capitol Hill vowing to defy the Interior Cabinet Secretary (CS) Fred Matiang’i’s ban on demonstrations in Nairobi, Mombasa and Kisumu CBDs.

“We want to condemn Mr. Matiang’i for claiming that we cannot enjoy our rights to picket and demonstrate. It is the responsibility of the police to provide security during demonstrations held within the law,” said Orengo.

“From here, we’ll be headed to the CBD for anti-IEBC demos, we have notified the police about these demonstrations,” said a defiant Orengo and this may have prompted police officers to wait for them.

Orengo was with Rarieda legislator Otiende Amollo and other opposition leaders during the melee.

No tear gas could however stop the politicians from making their way into the CBD.
