NASA raids Kajiado, accuses Jubilee of laxity

Just a day after accusing the government of deliberately orchestrating the current unga shortage to starve Kenyans into desperation so that they will vote for Jubilee in the August 8, 2017 polls, the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) presidential candidate, Raila Odinga, has continued his onslaught of the President Uhuru Kenyatta-led administration, this time faulting it for failing to empower the poor in the society.

The former Prime Minister, who was speaking during a campaign rally in Oloitoktok, Kajiado County, urged residents to vote for him as his government will empower not only the Maa community but all Kenyans to alleviate them from poverty.

“The reason why you, Kenyans, sell your ancestral land at cheap prices is because of a Jubilee administration that has failed to put in place crucial policies leading to Kenyans being poorer than they were before it (Jubilee) ascended to power. That is why they don’t have an option but to sell land. Every community in Kenya must be respected,” said Odinga.

The opposition chief also faulted the Jubilee administration over what he terms as deliberately refusing to adopt and implement the Truth Justice and Reconciliation Commission Report (TJRC) that according to him, could address the historical injustices of land issues that Kenyans have been facing since time immemorial.

“The President received the TJRC report but he withheld it so that it cannot be passed in Parliament. They had the tyranny of numbers in the 11th Parliament yet they failed to adopt the report. My government will implement the report and save Kenyans,” added Mr. Odinga.

Raila’s running mate, Kalonzo Musyoka, took time to defend the ODM party leader against recent allegations of hate speech and incitement to violence, insisting that Jubilee is trying to politicize the issue.

“Raila was only trying to address the poverty issue that is gnawing people of Kajiado and Kenyans at large. Even Duale is criticizing Odinga when Kenyans know that he has a case to answer considering his hate speech remarks against a certain community in Garissa,” said Kalonzo.

The Wiper leader also blamed the party’s Machakos gubernatorial candidate, Wavinya Ndeti’s, current problems in court on Jubilee which is supporting incumbent, Governor Alfred Mutua.

According to Kalonzo, Jubilee is trying so hard to block Wavinya from contesting in August so that Mutua will win unopposed.

Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, maintained that NASA has 10 million strong votes and that the Jubilee camp has already sensed defeat in the coming August polls.

Mudavadi insists that based on the current updated IEBC voter register, the opposition strongholds have more numbers than the ruling Jubilee.

On his part, Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula, laughed-off claims that Kajiado is a swing vote area, insisting that it is now a NASA stronghold.

He slammed Jubilee for unearthing the International Criminal Court cases that the President and his deputy were facing back in 2013 which they used to woo Kenyans to vote for them.

According to the Ford Kenya party leader, Jubilee are trying to get the sympathy votes that they got in 2013, saying that Kenyans are not foolish as they were back then.
