NASA supporters prefer Jubilee candidates

The opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) supporters have expressed a substantial interest in Jubilee gubernatorial and senatorial candidates, Trends and Insights for Africa (TIFA) research poll indicate.

If elections were held today, 12% of NASA partisans would vote for Jubilee candidate, Senator Mike Sonko as the next Governor of Nairobi.

According to the polls, political party supporters are overlooking their party affiliation and choosing candidates on their terms.

However, Nairobi Governor, Dr. Evans Kidero, who is vying under NASA, does not command a lot of support from Jubilee cohorts who only back him by 3%. Reason being,  31% of Jubilee supporters say that Kidero has not delivered during his five-year tenure and he does not have a development agenda.

As for Senatorial candidates, 12% of NASA affiliates equally support Jubilee candidate, Johnson Sakaja, as the next Nairobi Senator, while only 2% of Jubilee supporters support NASA candidate, Edwin Sifuna.

On the contrary, NASA Nairobi Women Representative hopeful, Esther Passaris, commands a lot of support from Jubilee supporters who back her by 11%.

The base of respondent demographics covered all the 17 sub-counties of Nairobi County and was released on Thursday, July 6.
