NASA to field single candidates in Nairobi’s elective seats

The National Super Alliance (NASA) will field single candidates for all elective seats in Nairobi County in the August 8 General Election.

According to Governor Evans Kidero, the coalition partners have agreed to back one candidate for the Governor, MPs, Women Representative and MCA seats.

Speaking at Garden Estate Secondary School in Nairobi, Mr Kidero said the move is aimed at ensuring the opposition coalition wins as many seats as possible in the August polls in the capital.

“It has already been agreed upon in the coalition that in Nairobi we will have joint nominations,” he said.

The city boss further intimated that in 2013, the opposition coalition lost numerous seats to the Jubilee Alliance due to multiple fielding of candidates by the coalition partners.

This comes amid sharp divisions in NASA over the joint primaries, with Wiper’s Kalonzo Musyoka, Ford Kenya’s Moses Wetangula and ANC’s Musalia Mudavadi opposed to holding joint primaries.
