NASA to unveil flag-bearer Thursday at Uhuru Park, Nairobi

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has  announced that it will unveil its presidential candidate and running mate on Thursday next week at Uhuru Park in Nairobi.

Making the announcement at the Bomas of Kenya during the welcoming of the Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto as the fifth principal, NASA co-leader Moses Wetangula urged opposition supporters  to back whoever is chosen and not abstain from voting if their preferred candidate is not selected.

“Today we come here to tell Kenyans that there is no cause for alarm about the leadership of NASA. We have been at a safe house for the last three days and have made tremendous progress. We are about to finish,” declared the Bungoma Senator Wetangula.

Further, the opposition outfit further re-launched Pentagon team after welcoming Governor Ruto of Chama cha Mashinani into the fold.

NASA co-principal Raila Odinga promised a revamped campaign to dislodge Jubilee Party from power, adding that the outfit would also launch its manifesto next week.

“The five of us, Isaac Ruto, Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia mudavadi and yours trully Raila Amolo Odinga,  have today relaunched the Pentagon,” said Raila.

Amani National Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi reiterated that the alliance will remain united while the Wiper Party chief Kalonzo Musyoka expressed confidence that NASA will send Jubilee Party home through a free and fair General Election.

Meanwhile, the new principal Ruto promised a bruising battle for Jubilee Party in August.

“Chama cha Mashinani is committed to the realization of devolution. The counties have been trying to practice public participation yet the national government has not agreed to it,” said Governor Ruto.

“We commit ourselves to a peaceful election. Never again shall we lose a child because of election violence.”

Today’s announcement came amid reports that the opposition alliance had already settled on a Raila-Kalonzo team as NASA’s flag-bearer and running mate respectively.

Last week, ODM’s Secretary General Agnes Zani stirred controversy when she affirmed that NASA’s National Coordinating Committee (NCC) had settled on the line-up leading to accusations from Mudavadi supporters that the Raila-led party was sabotaging the opposition unity by leaking sensitive information to the public.

However, the ODM Party Leader Raila rubbished the claims saying: “ If a line-up has been agreed upon, it will be officially unveiled to the public, we will come and tell you.”

The former Prime Minister said that the NCC had not yet settled on the appropriate line-up and when they did it would handed over to the central committee for action.
