NASA to unveil manifesto Tuesday

The National Super Alliance (NASA) will unveil its manifesto on Tuesday, July 27 at the Ngong Race Course, Nairobi County, one day after the ruling Jubilee Party launched theirs outlining their promises to Kenyans ahead of the General Election.

The coalition’s manifesto as seen by Citizen Digital, highlights national integration, inclusivity, devolution, democracy and economic transparency as its key pillars.

NASA promises to lead a country committed to nurturing and protecting communities in accordance with the spirit of Kenya’s 2010 Constitution.

“We believe we have the resolve to build a nation from the ashes of colonialism and single party dictatorship, oppressive regimes based on divide and rule politics of exclusion,” the NASA manifesto reads.

The Raila Odinga-led coalition pledges to implement devolution fully as envisaged by the Constitution and to make all administrative, policy, legislative and constitutional amendments necessary to strengthen the devolved system of governance.

“We will establish a framework for joint management by National and County governments of institutions that straddle national and devolved functions in particular the roads board (KURA, KENHA), water boards and regional development authorities (RDA’s),” the NASA manifesto outlines.

NASA also commits itself to ‘restoring public confidence in financial management’, noting that the coalition will put the country back on the path of sustainable financial management.

‘The Jubilee administration has eschewed the long term soft loans from development finance institutions we have relied on in the past in favour of expensive short-term commercial bank loans ,resulting in the cost of servicing the debt rising faster than the debt itself” the NASA manifesto reads.

The opposition says that it will declare war on procurement fraud and wasteful spending, saying it will buy goods and services at the lowest price available.

NASA also promises to create an enabling environment and synergy between the small, medium and large enterprises as well as backward linkages to agriculture.
