NASA to welcome back Raila with massive rally on Friday

Siaya Senator James Orengo has announced a major rally to welcome back opposition leader Raila Odinga, on Friday.

The National Super Alliance chief agent urged NASA supporters to turn out in large numbers so as to welcome back Raila who is currently in the United Kingdom.

“We want this place (Uhuru Park) to be packed so that people can see nothing else but Raila supporters,” said Orengo.

The legislator assured NASA supporters that the coalition would emerge triumphant in the current political situation surrounding the repeat presidential poll.

“I can assure you as a lawyer that we will win this battle. If your government is not performing, the constitution gives you the right to protest either directly or indirectly,” he added.

At the same time, Orengo went on to rebrand Uhuru Park, renaming it ‘Raila Odinga Park’ so as to correspond to their scheduled demonstrations against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).

The senator also said that starting next week, there will be daily demonstrations to protest against IEBC on the banner of “irreducible minimums.”

On Tuesday, NASA leader Raila withdrew his candidature from the October 26 repeat poll citing the IEBC’s lack  of willingness to undertake any changes to its operations and personnel to ensure that the “illegalities and irregularities” that led to the invalidation of the 8th August, 2008 do not happen again.
