NASA unveils final list of its PSC nominees

The National Super Alliance has finally settled on its nominees for the three opposition slots in the lucrative  Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC).

NASA has settled on Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga (ODM), Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa (ODM) and Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr (Wiper).

The agreement was reportedly reached after make-or-break talks of the coalition’s parliamentary leadership.

Borabu MP Ben Momanyi, whose name had initially been fronted by the Wiper Party, was replaced with Senator Mutula Kilonzo.

To allow ODM retain its two slots in the PSC and still pacify coalition partners; Wiper and ANC, NASA leaders agreed to have Senator Mutula Kilonzo relinquish his position as Senate Minority Whip to ANC’s George Khaniri.

On Sunday, Mr. Momanyi expressed disapproval of the plan to replace him with Mutula Kilonzo.

“How does ODM come into Wiper affairs. If they are nominating Mutula Kilonzo and they want to give him a slot, they should donate to him one that belongs to ODM. In any event Mutula Kilonzo never expressed interest in this position at the party level,” said Momanyi.

Meanwhile, another hurdle awaits NASA after it emerged that Jubilee lawmakers had reportedly been instructed to reject the name of Gladys Wanga, ostensibly due to her fierce criticism of President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Speaker Justin Muturi on Thursday last week gave NASA until Monday, February 19 to present nominees for their three slots in the PSC after three failed attempts.
