NASA wants IEBC forced to postpone polls
The National Super Alliance (NASA) now argues that the electoral body, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), should postpone the August 8, 2017 elections if the electronic system fails on the polling day.
Submitting before Justices Kanyi Kimondo, Hedwig Ong’udi and Alfred Mabeya on Monday, NASA through lawyer Paul Mwangi, said the IEBC has until now failed to put in place a complimentary system as required by law.
And in case the electronic system fails on August 8, Section 55 (b) of the amended Elections Act allows the Commission to postpone the elections until a complimentary system is put in place.
The said Act mentions of postponement of elections in a Constituency, county or ward.
