National Super Alliance not just about CORD Mudavadi

National Super Alliance not just about CORD Mudavadi

Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has said that their interest in forming a new coalition does not just focus on Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (CORD), but all groups willing to take the country forward.

Speaking in Emuhaya on Sunday, Mudavadi said that their focus is to unite all like-minded parties and form one formidable force ahead of the 2017 elections.

“This is not just about CORD, ANC, Ford Kenya or Wiper. This National Super Alliance is a new concept has a completely different philosophical background,” said Mudavadi.

“Our alliance is not ethnic, and that is why we are also interested in involving trade unions. We are targeting people who are willing to come together on the understanding that Kenya needs better governance.”

Mudavadi said that the National Executive Council had given the party a go-ahead to consult with other Opposition parties with the interest of forming one alliance.

“We are here to consult with 1,200 opinion leaders with the primary goal of discussing politics of ANC in this county and beyond.”

Addressing the press on Friday, the delegates, led by Secretary General Geoffrey Atotsi, reiterated the party’s support for Mudavadi, saying the move is aimed at uniting Opposition parties against Jubilee.

“Muungano Maalum is a space for all those against misrule by Jubilee which is characterized by condoning rampant corruption, a ruinous and extravagant economic model of borrowing to eat, and ruining our youth with the ‘hustler mentality’ while stealing billions meant to empower the same youth,” said Atotsi.

ANC party members have also insisted that any coalition between Mudavadi and any other parties should be made with the fact that the ANC leaders must be the flag bearer in the 2017 elections.

CORD leader Raila Odinga has in the past hinted at forming a coalition with Mudavadi, Kanu’s Gideon Moi and Mashinani Party’s Isaac Ruto to form a strong force in readiness for 2017 elections.
