Nationwide curfew extended by 30 more days

The government has extended the nationwide curfew by 30 more days as part of measures to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Making the announcement on Monday, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the positivity rate still remains high, hence the need to extend the containment measures.

The curfew hours remain 10pm-4am.

Other containment measures including operation hours for bars and restaurants as well as the ban on gatherings remain as previously announced.

On Sunday, 91 new infections were confirmed from a sample size of 3,435 tested in the last 24 hours, pushing the total confirmed positive cases to 250,114.

The CS was speaking during the launch of the COVID-19 Online Information Portal for media professionals in Kenya.

Supported by UNESCO, through the European Union (EU) funded project #coronavirusfacts, the portal will provide media professionals with a one -stop shop on factual, verifiable, and credible information on the pandemic in Kenya.
