NCIC says MP Moses Kuria must be arrested

National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) has written to the Inspector General of Police and Chief Justice to push for the arrest and prosecution of Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria over hate speech.

The commission, through its chairman Francis Ole Kaparo, stated that Moses Kuria’s apology is not enough to wish away the issue saying he has made it a norm to issue inflammatory statements and incite the public to violence.

Speaking to his constituents in Gatundu South on Tuesday, Kuria allegedly called on the youth to use pangas to slash anyone who opposes the National Youth Service (NYS) project.

In his addressed made in both English and his native language, Kuria said: “That is why I told you to come with your pangas. It is not for slashing only. Anyone who opposed NYS should be slashed.”

The NCIC’s statements comes just hours after Members Kuria’s TNA party called for the prosecution of the legislator over inciting comments he made in a rally on Tuesday.

The party, through its chairman Johnson Sakaja termed Kuria’s utterances inciting adding that the party dissociates themselves from the legislator’s position.
