NCIC warns politicians against politics of hate

The chairman of the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), Francis ole Kaparo, has asked politicians and other leaders to shun bad politics aimed at dividing the country along tribal lines.

Speaking in Giakanja, Nyeri County during the burial of Jane Wamucii Kimathi, mother-in-law to Cabinet Secretary for Devolution, Mwangi Kiunjuri, Mr Kaparo said it is time leaders show what good leadership means and unite Kenyans instead of splitting them.

At the same time, Kaparo asked religious leaders to pray for the country more so the ongoing insecurity situation in Laikipia and Baringo Counties.

The Commission Chairman said it is because of bad politics that such cases are taking place and ruled out the issue of drought.

The tough speaking Kaparo admitted that in all the type of jobs he has ever attended to, it is the current one that has proven hard to him.

He noted that politicians have made his job difficult and whenever he tries to unite the country, some are so determined to divide it.

His sentiments were echoed by Tetu Member of Parliament, Ndung’u Gethenji, who asked leaders to respect each other.

Gethenji said some leaders have shown disrespect to the President,  something that should not happen in this century.
