Former Director of Criminal Investigation Ndegwa Muhoro has declared that his net worth is Ksh.88 million.
On Thursday, the former spy chief appeared before the Defense and Foreign Affairs Committee for vetting on his suitability to serve as Kenyan Ambassador to Malaysia.
Mosop MP Vincent Tuwei put Mr Muhoro to task to explain why the figure he had stated as his net worth wasn’t convincing.
The figure you have disclosed as your net worth – Ksh.88 million – does not seem true. It looks like an understatement,” said Mr. Tuwei.
“My net worth is not an understatement,” said Mr Muhoro.
When asked about the integrity issues raised in the past by Senior Counsel Ahmednassir Abdullahi Muhoro said:
“There’s nothing new. I am in court with this guy. He was ordered not to say anything against me, either in person or through his agents. He even alleged that I want to kill him, something I have never thought about…”
“I come from a very strong christian background and taking someones life is something I have never imagined,” added Muhoro.
Muhoro told the committee that he is an honest Kenyan “with nothing to hide.”
According to him, Ahmednassir Abdullahi’s claims were a personal vendetta and hate speech spewed via social media.
Muhoro maintained that his conscience was clear and that the integrity issues are already before a court of law.
The Katoo ole Metito-led committee further put him to task over cases of extra-judicial killings and unresolved murders.
The former DCI boss clapped back saying no issues have ever been raised with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission.
