Nelson Marwa threatens to arrest Governor Joho

Controversy surrounding the ownership of a 22-acre piece of land, pitting the Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC) and the Mombasa County Government took a dramatic twist when Coast Regional Coordinator Nelson Marwa threatened to arrest Governor Hassan Joho for allegedly breaking the law by invading the land.

Addressing a press conference on Sunday, Marwa accused Joho of violating the law by hiring hooligans who pulled down a perimeter wall that was being constructed around the disputed land at VOK area in Nyali Constituency.

He further accused Joho of trying to impose himself as the king of the coast region by breaking the law a matter he said would not be taken lightly by security officials.

On Friday, Joho led a section of local residents to pull down the wall saying the land is under dispute and part of it had been allegedly bought by the Mombasa County Council.

Joho warned provincial administration officials including Nelson Marwa against using the police to interfere with the matter.

Marwa said the land belongs to the KBC and not the county government as claimed by Joho.
