Never forgotten: Victims of Westgate attack

On September 21 six years ago, a dark cloud loomed over Westgate mall in Nairobi.

Members of Al Shaabab militia group stormed into the mall, wreaking unbelievable havoc.

Almost 70 people were killed and hundreds others seriously wounded.

They include children who were at a cooking competition and others who were shopping with their families.

Business owners, supermarket and restaurant employees, bank workers, drivers and other workers in different offices within the mall also lost their lives.

On January 14 this year, a court ruled that three out four suspects linked to the Westgate attack would have a case to answer.

The three are Ahmed Abdi, Liban Abdullah and Hussein Mustafa, while the freed suspect is Adnan Ibrahim.
