It was four years ago when Esther Arunga Timberlake quit her job as a news anchor to the dismay of her fans. What followed then was a controversy that only abated after Esther and her husband sought political asylum in Australia. The two were back in the news in June 2014 when Timberlake was accused of killing their first born son amid police claims that Esther failed to give a true account of what really happened. Our reporter Sylvia Chebet was in Australia and now brings us the first part of Esther Arunga's story as we kick off our newsmakers 2014 series on the personalities who made headlines this year.
