Ngilu: War Against Corruption Marred with Favouritism

Speaking at her office in Ardhi House, Ngilu said she has no knowledge of the allegations levelled against her at the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC), adding that only hardworking cabinet secretaries have been targeted in the report.

Ngilu announced that she is stepping aside to allow for investigations to be carried out on the alleged corruption dealings, adding that she fully supports President Uhuru Kenyatta's war against corruption.

The former Water Minister however stated that the cabinet secretaries targeted in the report are those that are hard working.

COMPLETES THE LIST

By stepping aside, Ngilu completes the list of five cabinet secretaries mentioned in the Ethic and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) report in connection to corruption.

Other Cabinet Secretaries in the report, who have since stepped aside, include Kazungu Kambi (Labour), Michael Kamau (Transport), Felix Koskei (Agriculture) and Davis Chirchir (Energy).

Francis Kimemia, who is the secretary to the Cabinet, and Defence Permanent Secretary Mutea Iringo are other prominent personalities who have stepped aside to allow for investigations into their conduct at their respective offices.

On Thursday last week, President Kenyatta asked all county and central government officials and parastatal heads named in the EACC report to step aside and allow for investigations.

The anti-graft body has been given 60 days to conduct investigations into the 175 public officials named in the report and give its findings by the end of that period.
