NGO Meeting Cancelled over Suspicion of Terror

Police in Mwea, Kirinyaga County on Saturday stopped an NGO from conducting a seminar in a hotel at Rukanga on suspicion of carrying out terror related activities.

According to police, the NGO did not have the necessary documents either.

Mwea DCIO, Baoz Obetto, who was accompanied by security officers from Muranga County, told Citizen Digital that they became suspicious after discovering over 40 wooden guns, masks, praying mats and communication devices.

The items were reportedly supposed to be used in a practical training session during the seminar.

Police intercepted the equipment and took them to the Sagana Police Station awaiting clearance from the inspector general’s office.

Rikanga residents, who were shaken by the incident, were asked to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities in the area.
