NGOs council call for dialogue over CORD anti-IEBC march

The National Council of NGOs has backed the call by US and European envoys for National Dialogue and reconciliation to resolve credibility issues surrounding the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the electoral process.

In a statement to newsrooms, the council is appealing to CORD and Jubilee Coalition leaders and other stakeholders to give dialogue a chance to chat the way forward ahead of next year’s General Election.

“We appeal to all parties in IEBC issue to restrain from ways that can jeopardize national peace and harmony among Kenyans or divide the country along political lines,” read the statement in part.

NGOs Council National Chairman Stephen Cheboi has further committed to rally all stakeholders in the electoral process to discuss issues being raised about IEBC through a national dialogue forum.

“We intend to bring together over 1,200 stakeholders in national dialogue forum among them political parties and their leaders, business leaders, diplomatic missions, business leaders, the media, civil society organizations, religious leaders, youth and women to chat on issues of national interests that promote peace harmony among Kenyans.”
