NHIF accuses rogue doctors of fleecing scheme
The National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) has launched investigations against some medical practitioners for allegedly fleecing the body.
According to NHIF, some private and public facilities are illegally billing the fund for non-rendered services.
This emerged at the end of a three-day consultative workshop between NHIF and COTU officials in Naivasha.
Addressing the press, NHIF CEO, Geoffrey Mwangi, said the body is incurring major losses because of that.
Speaking at the same time, KMPDU Secretary General, Dr. Ouma Oluga, said fraud is rife in the sector noting that the union is working with NHIF to expose the suspects.
On his part COTU Secretary General, Francis Atwoli, has called for the review of the NHIF act to make it mandatory for government to have a budgetary allocation to the fund.
