NIGHT OF HORROR as governor’s house broken into

Less than a fortnight after the government withdrew and later reinstated security detail of Kilifi Governor, Amason Jeffa Kingi, and his Mombasa counterpart, Ali Hassan Joho, robbers have broken into Kingi’s house and made away with valuables of unknown worth.

According to the Governor, the robbers broke into the main house of his Nyali home while he was asleep with his family.

Kingi says that he heard commotion from downstairs but by the time he got to the sitting room, the robbers had already done the looting and left.

He told Citizen Digital that the robbers made away with his personal laptop, house electronics, some documentation and several other valuables whose value he is yet to quantify.

Governor Kingi reported the incident to Nyali Police Station and the officers are still combing his home for evidence in order to track down the robbers.

He, however, noted that no one was injured during the robbery and called on the police to hasten the investigations and bring the culprits to book.

Kingi and Joho were stripped off of their security detail during a police reorganization in the Coast region over two weeks ago in a move that was viewed as political by the opposition.

The security detail was later reinstated but the two leaders said that they were not interested and were reported to have hired private security officers as their guards.
