Nine car break-in, theft suspects arrested in Mombasa

Police in Mombasa have arrested nine suspects believed to be part of gang involved in car break-ins and theft.

The suspects aged between 21 and 32 years were arrested by DCI detectives in the wee hours of Thursday morning at Furaha Apartments in Nyali.

“On searching the house, several rolls of bhang, shisha pot, a packet of shisha, Ksh.100,000 in one thousand denominations and assorted mobile phones were found,” said the DCI in a statement.

Three motor vehicles; Toyota Allion (KCV 751S), Toyota Mark X (KBV 161Q) and Nissan Note (KCG 448C) believed to be getaway cars used by the gang during criminal operations were also detained.

The suspects were identified as Imran Faud Mohamed (28), Ismael Fuad Mohamed (26), Kelvin Osebe (30), Omar Safari Sanje (29), James Otieno Ochieng (32) Nancy Ekasiva Aloo (29), Julie Saida Magdalene (22), Brenda Juma (21) and Hamoud Mohamed Hamisi (30).

The suspects have been placed in police custody as further investigations continue.
