Nine killed, scores injured in Mandera clashes

There is tension along the Kenya-Ethiopia border after nine people were killed and scores others injured on Wednesday at Domal in Mandera following clashes between the Gare and Degodia communities.

Mandera County Commissioner Alex ole Nkoyo said that people from one clan were killed after people from another clan drawn from Ethiopia attacked them early Wednesday.

Nkoyo said the attacks were retaliatory after four people from another clan were killed on Tuesday evening.

For the last two years, Mandera County has been grappling with internal clan conflicts, violent extremism and cross border militia incursions.
