Njuri Ncheke ‘uncurses’ Kaimenyi

Meru Council of Elders Njuri Ncheke has lifted a curse they had imposed on Education Cabinet Secretary Prof Jacob Kaimenyi after elders who initiated him as a Njuri Ncheke elder paid the fine.

Meru County Assembly Majority Leader Ayub Bundi, a Njuri Ncheke member said Kaimenyi’s godfather, who is among the elders, was sent to present the accepted fine.

Bundi has now urged all Meru leaders in the National Assembly and the Senate to block the impeachment motion targeting Kamienyi over his handling of the education docket.

The council had invoked a curse against Kaimenyi over disparaging remarks he is said to have made against it.

In May, Njuri Ncheke resorted to invoke a curse on the Education CS after he failed to honour summons over controversial remarks about the council.

Speaking during a press conference in Meru Town, Council Chairman Paul M’Ethinkia and Secretary General Pharis Rutere who were joined by elders from Meru and Tharaka-Nithi counties said Njuri Ncheke is guided by the principle of dialogue and that a curse is normally the last resort.

Rutere said Njuri Ncheke has never cursed anyone since its inception in the 1800s.

He said that Njuri Ncheke is guided by the principle of peace and unity and when a person does something wrong, they discuss their behaviour and seek to restore them.
