Nkaissery issues one-week ultimatum to cattle rustlers

Interior cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaissery has issued a one-week deadline to cattle rustlers in Samburu County to return the stolen cattle.

Nkaissery was speaking after heading a two-day meeting with Samburu County leaders and the National Assembly security committee chair Osman Kamama at his Harambee House Office on Wednesday.

The leaders were looking for a lasting solution to peace in Samburu North in the wake of Friday’s banditry attack at Nabwel Nyang village that left nine people dead.

Following the attack, eight bodies were taken to Maralal Mortuary on Saturday morning, with reports indicating that seven people were injured, two of whom were airlifted to Nairobi for specialised treatment.

Samburu North Sub-County Commissioner Henry Katana revealed that security officers had been deployed in the area and 220 head of cattle had been recovered.
