No cheating detected in KCSE 2016 – CS Matiang’i

The Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) 2016 results have been released, with Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i noting that reforms implemented during the administration have borne fruit.

Releasing the results at Shimo la Tewa High School in Mombasa County, the CS announced that there were no examination irregularities this year – a large shift from the KSCE 2015 results which had over 5000 documented cases of exam malpractice.

“Makueni, Nairobi and Meru Counties recorded the highest cases of exam irregularities in the KCSE 2015 exam. It is due to this we put up stringent measures to curb any cases of exam cheating,” added Matiang’i.

The CS said that the more than 577 000 KCSE2016 candidates who sat for the KCSE 2016 exams will receive their results Thursday December 29.

“No candidates were faced with irregularities. So all our students will get their results,” said Matiang’i.

The CS said that candidates of the KCSE 2016 exam can get the results by sending their index number to 22252.

In an earlier meeting with CS Matiang’i on Thursday December 28, President Uhuru Kenyatta congratulated the CS and his team for conducting credible exams, noting that there was a significant drop in the KCSE 2016 performance.

“There are schools that registered 200 plus A students in the KCSE 2015 exam, but they could not produce even 15 in the KCSE 2016 exam,” commented Matiang’i.
