No dead voters in our register IEBC says

The electoral body, Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), has denied claims by the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) that dead voters still exist in the audited voter register.

In a statement, the commission says it certified over 19.6 million voters to take part in the August 8, 2017 polls after verification by voters and review by audit firm KPMG.

IEBC has also defended the audit conducted by KPMG saying a total of 88, 602 dead voters were removed from the voter register adding that on voting day, Biometric verification will be used to identify voters in a bid to ensure integrity in the polls.

On Friday, June 30, NASA demanded for an urgent consultative meeting of political parties and the IEBC over claims that the new IEBC SMS service for voter verification revealed glaring errors in the audited voter register.
