No division in police service IG Boinnet

Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett has denied claims that the conflicting police promotions lists released on Friday is a show of a divided force saying that there was no conflict in the lists.

He, however, insisted that his office released the official list of the officers to be promoted.

Speaking during the Sunday Live interview on Citizen TV, Boinett said that due process was followed, further intimating that a meeting was held to discuss the nominees for the position of Assistant Inspector General and that of Senior Supretendant of Police (SSP) before the release.

The IG further moved to assure that the commissioners are working seamlessly, rubbishing claims of existing divisions.

The list signed by Police Spokesman George Kinoti and sanctioned by Boinett was released on Friday with the National Police Service Commission (NPSC) raising questions following the omission of eight names, including that of Police Spokesperson Charles Owino.

Boinett, however, said that the matter will be resolved at the commissioner’s level.

On IPOA allegations that he was an impediment to their investigations, Boinett denied the claims saying he was cooperating fully and would continue to do so.
