‘No Learning After Bad Grades’ As Chwele Girls Students Strike

The over 1,000 students associated the poor performance to the principal's 'high-hardedness'.

The school's meanscore in the 2014 KCSE dropped from 7.2 in 2013 to 6.5, a situation the students associated with lack of essential equipment.

The students also claimed that the twin lab which was to be constructed last year had not yet been constructed despite Deputy President William Ruto raising over Ksh 6 million through a harambee in November last year.

The student matched to the District Education Officer’s (DEO) office at Sirisia demanding an immediate transfer of the school principal, Getrude Wanyonyi, and the accounts clerk from the school alleging that they were misappropriating the funds.

Responding to the allegations, the principal said that the school had not used any money for the project but were still in the procurement process adding that the contractor is yet to sign a contract with the school.

The Principal accepted that the school mean score had dropped saying that they are now focused on improving it this year.
